Hey guys. I just recently acquired my truck about 3-4 weeks ago for an awesomely low price. I only have one major problem that I'm not sure how to take care of. The truck did not come with a title. The guy i bought it off of said that there wasn't one. It still has the plate on the door pillar, but I'm not sure of how to go about getting a title for it. Any ideas would be much appreciated. Thanx.

The procedure varies from state to state, so I would contact the local DMV office, talk to one of the "friendly staff" there and find out what hoops you need to jump through to get this thing titled. Good luck!!

Jenny, I believe in PA you just need your bill of sale and then take your vehicle when ready...you can trailer it if you have to..to a PA State Police Station to verify the door piller tag numbers.. DO NOT REMOVE THIS TAG OR ALL BETS ARE OFF. Then you can get a PA Title although it will take time.I just recently had some family members who moved to PA go thru a procedure like this on one of their cars, only they were using a VIN #.

After talking with my daughter, this might be the application you need. But check for sure.

Waldo's advise is the absolute best. Nothing beats getting the info you need from the horses mouth (just don't call them a horse to their face ).

Thanx everyone for your help with this issue. I guess I inhaled too many fumes with the garage door down, and forgot that my one friend is a notary. For everyone that may have this problem, there is a site http://www.broadwaytitle.com/ that can get you a title. They explain it better than I would, so just check it out if you need help getting a title. Thanx again!

Be aware that Broadway Title is under investigation by the state of Georgia. It seems they were issuing antique titles to fiberglass kit cars that look like antiques in violation of GA law. I've heard of problems in other states with Broadway Title. Don't take shortcuts, contact the titling agency in your state to get the "legel" process for resolving your issue.

chevy_Jenny, I fixed your link then I checked out the website. A couple of things raise the alarm with me about them. I'd like to hear from anyone who has used them.

chevy_Jenny, one more thing about the DMV, like Waldo said the laws and rules vary from state to state, that also goes for the DMV office. I have received different information from separate individuals working in the same DMV office. If you are told that it cannot be resolved easily, you may try and ask another at the same location (maybe on a different day) or pay a visit to an entirely different office.

Some DMV workers may be lazy, and less likely to work with you, and another may go above and beyond, and will make it less painful for you.

I have dealt with several DMV offices in both Iowa, and South Dakota, and many in Nebraska. I still have to acquire titles for two of mine.
