I have found out from the VIN decoder that the is a model year 1959., series 3100, plant Oakland and sequential number 100092. I believe this means the truck was the 92nd truck of the series to be made at that plant and production normally starts in September. I all so understand the truck was made in the USA which means Canada GM knows nothing about it and the American GM only give out information to Americans and will not send me information. Can anyone help me prove the truck was made in 1958?

I went through this identity thing with them on my American made 57 Chevrolet 1 ton pickup, my registration kept coming saying 1900 Chevrolet so I would ask the agent to correct it to say 1957, when the new documents arrived it said 1900 again. I asked the agent to inquire why it kept coming "1900", he got on the phone, he was told that because it had an American serial number they could not decipher it, I pointed out that Chevrolet did not maufacture vehicles in 1900, he was told that was just a "default" number that they used to identify vehicles whoose serial number could not be verified. I told them that I could decifer the serial number for them, But they said they would only accept such information from the vehicle manufacturer on their letterhead, hope that helps explain what your dealing with. | | | | Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 183 Wrench Fetcher | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 183 | Gosh, I never had any of those problems. The insurance agent just chose 1958 from a pull-down menu, Chevy, truck, etc. I had the title in hand. ICBC never made any fuss about it and its from California. They actually have an insurance agent inside ICBC in North Vancouver - go through the building to the back (closest to the water-side). If they have issue, they will call upstairs. | | | | Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 25 New Guy | New Guy Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 25 | The problem is I want to make this truck a Modifed Collector as it does not have the negine, transmission or seats and Only 1958 and older qualify. I have talked with ICBC and they say if it was manufactured in 1958 then it would be a 1958 for this classification. I except the production run started in September 1958 and as it is 100092, I would except it was manufactured in 1958, but I need proof! I understand that it would have been built in the Oakland Chev plant and Chev USA does not have production records.
