OK, here it goes.
I bought this 47 1/2 ton truck (it came in a box), a hundred years ago. It had lots of extra parts including 5 doors but only 4 hinges. The truck is now going back together and I am test fitting the doors. The doors fit great except the right side door does not open as far as the left. Before I go further I must say that all 4 hinges were rebuilt including pins, bushings, and springs. There is a very noticable differance in the hinges, the right side seems to have an extra plate,(doorstop),welded to both the top & bottom of both hinges. This plate is L shaped and looks very original,(not added on). This L shaped plate is keeping the door from opening as far as the driver side does. Please understand that you can still inter & exit the passinger side OK,(unless your 3 foot wide). My questions are?
1) Is this normal on AD trucks?
2) Could the left hinges had the L plate removed?
3) Would removing the L plate from the right side hinges weakin or distort the hinges?
Thanks for all the help Stovebolters have given me putting this -TRUCK IN A BOX- back together.
