The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Paint and Body Shop Doors Door Alignment and Seals

Very close to getting my body back fron the body and paint guy. I have this fear that although my doors will look perfect when mounted in the jambs on the chassis, I'll get it home install the rubber and have mis-alignment. Unfounded fear or a real concern?
Should I have the body man do the rubber install BEFORE it leaves the shop?

Rubber changed mine by quite a lot. If he'll do it and you can afford it, go for it. They do charge by the hour? If he doesn't want to touch it, at least you know he has experience with them.

Since I am paying (and paying huge) for a restoration, alignment would,should I would think, include the doors. Not just metal to metal, but as they would ultimately be - w/ seals.
Would you think that the hood would be also effected by new seals?

I was really lucky with my hood - 20 minutes to done. I did it with the seal and hood bumpers in place. The hood seal will affect the fit, but not to the degree that door seals have on the doors.

Coordinating the hood would be tough. I had a difficult time just getting it off. Worrying about the new paint would be too much.
