There was a piece of cardboard in the hole but now it is just open space. I'd like to fill it but also do not want to put in something that didn't come from the factory in Nov 1951. Thanks.

Thanks. | | | | Joined: Nov 2001 Posts: 1,516 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2001 Posts: 1,516 | It seems to be a real fine mesh metal screen. Almost like the stuff for screen doors but thicker gauge wire. Marty | | | | Joined: Jan 2005 Posts: 1,602 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 2005 Posts: 1,602 | Thanks. I'll see if I can find a picture in the Gallery. Thanks again!

The material looks like it’s the same thing that the speakers are made from, I hope this picture will splain it to ya. http://rides.webshots.com/photo/2080156010098611668JssMBl Denny Graham Sandwich, IL

I think if I shot a piece of cardboard the dash color it would fit the bill. It's already black and will last for years. | | | | Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 684 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 684 | My 49 has the heavy metal screen that Marty described. Anyone know? | | | | Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 9,671 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 9,671 | Well it happened again, thought I posted this put came back and it twernt here. Master Parts Catalog 1929-1950; gp. 16.083... 1947-49 ALL... SCREEN (4 21/32x9 1/16)... pn. 3684234 My thoughts are this; If dealer installed, the screen probably came in the radio accessory package, if factory option then of course it was installed at that time. I is no doubt the equivalent of a speaker Grill-Cloth material. If the truck was not equipped with a radio then they probably simply used a cardboard filler for the grills back ground.
