My understanding is that an original 47-53 GMC radio will work with either positive or negative ground. Can anyone confirm this? Thanks.

50GMC,
that is correct if it is equipped with a mechanical vibrator. If it has the new electronic vibrator replacement, the electronic unit will be made for either positive ground or negative ground, but not both.
