Okay, I've heard you can take an iPod, and with the right cables from Monster, plug it directly into an amp. Anyone out there tried it, or heard anymore about it? Yes, I know there are fancy iPod-stereo interfaces out there, but I put a patch panel over my old radio hole, and I don't want to mess with a radio/stereo at all - anywhere. Many thanks.

I plug my iPod into an old Yamaha receiver and a newer JVC desktop stereo. Both of them just take line inputs. I'm not really a car audio guy, but I figure a line level signal is a line level signal (excepting head units that have higher-level outs to minimize noise for competition stereos).

If you're willing to have it set up so the iPod isn't charged by the connector, I'd just plug in the headphone jack and call it a day.

what you would need is a plug that went into the headphone jack of the ipod. the other end of the cable would need to be the red and white plugs that go into the amp, justlike out of the back of a stereo. the amp will have "rca" plugs in it. I am not sure if this is an approved use of the ipod and i also would probably want to know it worked before i tried it on mine. but you are on the right track, i say if it works and makes you happy then do it. they also make a radio frequency remote for the ipod that would make it so you coulp put a mounting place for it in the glovebox when it is plugged into the amp and you could control it with the remote from inside the cab. anyway, good luck man.

Thanks FORT KNOW and M.Rhoten. Yes, it would seem that line-level signals are all the same. As long as the amp could accept line-level inputs it seems it outha work, and the iPod volume control would run the thing. But yeah, i was hoping someone has tried it.

I have an adapter for my Pioneer head units - it plugs into the CD changer input and has RCA plugs on the other end. They cost about $15/ea. on eBay with shipping.

Thanks, man. If anyone out there tries the iPod-direct-to-amp, pleaselet me know. I'm not ready yet for it, but if I was ready I'd try it.

Go STEELERS, and Go SEAHAWKS! Yes, I'm conflicted. But it doesn't hurt too bad.

Terrible when your two favorites (long-time favorite and local-hometown team) BOTH make it to the big show!!
