| | | | Joined: Dec 2004 Posts: 322 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2004 Posts: 322 | I didn't go the route of a highly varnished wood bed in my truck...instead I used a "water-resistant" stain that you would use on your deck, Behr's antique Oak. Well its been a couple of years and results are so-so. I would still like to use this sort product again as I don't mind brushing on another coating or two every few years and would like opinions/advice, especially you Mar-K Tech Man...do I need to pull boards every time I do this

| | | | | Joined: May 2006 Posts: 8,351 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: May 2006 Posts: 8,351 | I think that you'll find that any stain will require some sort of top coat to survive in an outdoor environment. Most I've seen suggest marine spar varnish. If you're wanting to stay away from a glossy finish, they do make spar varnish in semi-gloss and flat finish.
