Find a couple good spots on each corner and check the overlap from the frame to the edge of the box. Also keep an eye on the distance between the box and the tires. You might also ensure it doesn't twist as you tighten it down. Another measurement could be to check the box for being square. Measure from inside corner to inside corner. The distance should be pretty close to equal.

1) On my 56 bed, there are two - looks like stake holders at the very back of the bed (tailgate end). They have holes in them that line up with the frame. I assumed that there were bolts there at one point. Because the stake holders are "V" shaped, a washer wouldn't seat flat so I ground it down to fit. I then installed two bolts with lock washers. I tightened them lightly with just my fingers to start.
2) I then went to the two bolt holes at the front of the bed and put long punches down into the holes to line up the bed.
3) I took a measurement under the bed from spring "U" to the edge of the wheel on both sides.
4) I installed bolts at the front of the bed. Before I tightened them I put the punches into two other holes to keep alignment. Then I tightened the two bolts... wnet back to the back two and tightened them.
5) Repeated the process with the remaining four bolts. | | |
