I ordered new kings pins, tie rod ends, a drag link, 4 new shocks and all new tie rod end and drag link balls for my truck this morning. Any last advice before I lock myself in the garage for the weekend? That is if the parts come quickly. Anyway, hopefully this should make my truck nice and tight. I went ahead and ordered new brake shoes all around and I figured I might as well flush the old brake fuild out and put some new fluid in. I have read the tech tip on king pin replacement here on the 'bolt, but if anyone else has any tips or advice that would be great appreciated.

I need to replace all the steering parts myself. But, I have been afraid to get it started in fear I get halfway and then can't get something off.

There is a good tech tip on it.

10-4 on that Tony!! I'm worried that once I get it started I'm gonna need some weird part or clip or fastener or whatever. That is always my problem. Getting parts off is no problem, I have a torch and a panel cutter eek

I bought and attempted to use those tie rod/drag link rebuild kits.
What a waste of money. The springs were too long, making them worthless, and cups were not near the quality of the original, they were just pot metal, could be broken in my bare hands (by experience).
Otherwise an easy job, compared to other jobs, that is.

I am not a slave to originality to the point of using those. I will use the updated ones.

I ordered the "updated" tie rod ends and drag link, not the "rebuild" kit. I figured it would nice to have all new items, besides I really don't want to spend 2 hours rebuilding a tie rod end when I can have a new one in less time/hassle. Anyone else use the updated tie rod ends yet??

TrcknGMC,
I see that your GMC is a Canadian model. Everything on it should be Chevrolet, that is mechanical wise. I just mentioned that in case it was a surprise.
