The 9 digit vin doesn't seem to give me all the answers.Any help is appreciated

Call GM and ask for customer service, tell them you want a "Restoration Package". They will send it to you free of charge! It has every option, color, wheel bases, serial number codes. Where your truck was made, every engineering speck. I couldn't believe it when I got it. They said it would take 4-6 weeks for shipping but it only took about 5 days. I forgot the number but you can call any GM dealer and ask them for the 1-800 customer service number. When do you ever get something for free? Now go out there and take advantage of it.

There have been several posts on this site about it. Do a search for "restoration package" and you should find the number or address. :p

The restoration package isn't going to give you the names of any previous owners or the orginial color. It will give you the colors that were used for that year and it will also give a list of standard equipment and options for that year.

I didn't have any trouble figureing this out from the vin plate and resources on this board though... let me see where I dug up the vin number lookup info...
