Any leads on where I can get some hardware for getting my parking brakes working? I disassembled my wheels and found nothing attached to the ends of the cables!

Chevy Duty has "parking brake spreader bars" in their catalog, but they say they are "discontinued". I also think I might need more hardware beyond the spreader bars, based on the photo Chevy1 sent me (thanks!). Such as some sort of clip/clamp to attach the cable to the lever? the lever itself? and then the spreader bars?

HELP!!!

Anyone know of a junkyard near Phila, PA???

thanks!

Dave

I'm having the exact same issue. We have a classic car junkyard but what is found is of little use in the shape it's in. My only saving grace is finding those who have upgraded and have the old stuff laying around in a coffee can taking up space. Chevys of the 40's had them discontinued also so must be the same supplier. Good luck!

Spreader bars for the Bendix brakes can be bought at an auto parts store, they're in the "help" section.

I sent Daves49 a picture of the complete drivers side rear brake set-up with the emergency brake cable attaced the the lever and the spreader bar attached between the brake shoes at the top. They don't sell spreader bars like this at the store that for sure.

I lucked out and pulled this one off a junker truck a guy down the street gave me. He was actually hauling off a 54 GMC deluxe cab on a 1950 AD frame.

If someone can send me a picture of the spreader bars, I might have them. I have a bunch of brake parts I can't identify.

49erGal -

I just sent you the same picture of the brake hardware that I sent Dave a few days ago.

Dave: I have the parking brake levers you need. One even has the correct bolt, castle nut and two washers. Both have pitting, but are sound. I do not have the spreader bar. Give me a ping off line.
