A friend of a friend gave me an engine that appears to be very similar to the 216. The casting number, #2135412, comes up as a 248,270. Is this a 248? or a 270? My second question - The 216 flywheel was held on with 6 bolts and this other engine uses only 4 bolts - Is there an adapter available? or should I be looking for another engine?

GMC also has the engine size in first three numbers of serial stamped behind distributor on machined angle surface. Keep in mind 216 is shorter than the 235 late and GMC engines. May need to do radiator mods or undo mods done to yours to put in Chev engine in first place! Even the front motor mount is diff at x-member from GMC and Chevs. GMC is better engine too. :p

The punched number on the plate just behind the distributor has the number C432317 and the cast numer, on the other side,is 3695451.
The transmission has the number "8 GM 590474" on the left side. Any help on this is also appreciated.
