Should I use any kind of gasket sealer or should the gasket go on dry? Also, the manual says it will require a special tool to tighten these manifold bolts...Does anyone know what this tool is and do I really need it?

Let it cure for 24 hours before starting the engine. This will help with the uneven surface on the manifold.
As for tools, I use a 9/16's box end wrench and a flex socket, the kind with the U-joint built in. You can do it with just the wrench. The worst bolt is the aft one next to the firewall, if someone has removed the stud and put in a bolt. The nuts by the carb aren't too hard, but it takes a lot of wrench turning due to the limited space.
