#24942 05/13/2004 11:29 PM | Joined: May 2004 Posts: 30 Member | | Member Joined: May 2004 Posts: 30 | I removed the gauge assembly last summer in an attempt to fix the gas gauge(which i never got working) anyway I have since reinstalled the assembly and reconnected the oil line from the engine to the gauge. Now it doesn't work at all. It used to work fine i think, it read about 3/4 when on the freeway and half when idleing. My question is do you have to bleed the line of air before hooking to the gauge? Do you guys think the gauge just bite the big one on me? I know the tube has oil in it, i was testing the gas gauge and forgot to hook it up and oil came out all over last summer. | | |

#24944 05/14/2004 12:11 AM | Joined: Oct 2001 Posts: 3,458 Extreme Gabster | | Extreme Gabster Joined: Oct 2001 Posts: 3,458 | You don't need to bleed the gauge, pressure is pressure whether it is air or oil. A bit of air in there is good anyway because it gives the needle a bit of damping.
You probably either have corrosion inside the gauge or more likely in the tubing, or a kink, or the needle is hitting the face or glass.
