Has anyone replaced the side window rubber and felt on their suburban and can you share your trials, nightmares, headaches and cusswords?
I'll be starting that project soon,,
Who sells the best product?
What day of the week is best to do it?
Which direction does the wind have to be blowing for everything to fall together? Etc.....
Thanks,
Marty

Marty,

I did it about three years ago. If you remember how you took it apart, you can get it back together without too much cussing. If you do not remember, you most likely will need to see photos and/or have someone talk you through it.

Jim Carter supposedly sells a good installation kit (has more parts than other vendors supply). You might need to obtain whiskers for the vertical stainless steel bar (see link in thread below).

It helps to have a helper.

After you get it done, check with me about a custom sliding-window stop.

The first time I replace mine (1983)I ordered channel from JC Whitney! I have no idea if they are still around. I was young, using the burb as a way to get to the drive in and not very careful about the installation.

I remember using screws, don't know if the originals did or not, but the channel was hard to form tightly to the window frame, the screw heads cracked the edge of the glass and they leaked!

I promise to do better the next time.
