Bolted right in. Brian | | | | | Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 564 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 564 | That's good to know. Thanks. What do you do for a Spare though?

I can take a pic if you are intersted in going that route, Brian | | | | | Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 564 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 564 | I'm guessing you mean inside the cargo area. Thanks for the offer of the pix; I thought about that, but use my truck too much to haul things. That'd eat up a lot of real estate. I run a swap meet once a month, so the back has a could of tables in it, bag chairs, two EZ Ups, a big crate with a radio, several tote boxes, a couple case of soda/water/Gatorade, and the list goes on. A spare tire would really eat into that.

I have a narrow OE 5 inch wide wheel w/a 215/15 on it. The tire can also be stowed on the roof rack of your panel or suburban. Just a thought. | | | | | Joined: Jun 2006 Posts: 687 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jun 2006 Posts: 687 | Roof mount that puppy. Either add a roof rack or purchase an off road tire carrier for the roof. Roof rack is a win win for you, more storage and a place for the spare with out crawling under the truck on a mud road.
I didn't do it, no one saw me do it, you can't prove anything! No way I could get something that heavy up and on to a roof rack. Mine is mounted inside. I have considered having something built for the front, so the spare could be mounted there. Another possibility is mounting the spare on the rear door, outside. Mounted on the door, so that when you open the door, the tire goes with it. You'd probably have to reinforce the door, and the hinges or where they are mounted might not support the weight. I have a '72 Landcruiser with a swing away rack. NOT a good idea. To access back-release latch on rack, swing out rack, open door, close door, swing rack back in, close latch. If you do that a half dozen times a day for 11 years, it gets old. | | | | | Joined: Jan 2002 Posts: 244 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 2002 Posts: 244 | I have a gas tank from a '61 Burb and will not be using but it has a large dent. It doesn't leak and the dent can probably be pulled out. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2003 Posts: 2,384 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Sep 2003 Posts: 2,384 | I took a pic of mine,, one pic two pic has a skinny stock wheel 215/75/15 "get home" tire,,Brian | | | | | Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 335 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 335 | got an extra tank..coupla dents but regalvanized...decided to use the one from my parts truck...leaks like a screen but theres no dents..and i can have it sealed....anyone interested in the non leaky deented one? not bad dents..can send a pic | | |
