Everything works. Good paint, 350 with holly 4 barrel. This truck is very solid. Some rust on the floor, engine compartment and frame. Bumpers and grille need paint, but other than that the truck doesn't need any work. Even the tires and wheels are good. I'll post some photos when I get the bumpers and grille painted. I have a couple of questions. 1. There is a small black knob to the left of and just below instrument panel, has "C" on it. What is it for? 2. I need a source where I can find new locking hubs. PS. This truck is NOT FOR SALE! | | | | Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 21 Apprentice | Apprentice Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 21 | '64 - For the 6 lug, 1/2 Dana 44 closed knuckle hubs check out Mile Marker.
As for the "C" knob... is it mechanical or electrical?
What front axle and transfer case is in the Burb? Should be a Dana 44 - 5F and a Rockwell T-221 if it's stock.

Does cowl mean anything? Also, I have no idea what the front differential is or the transfer case, but I think it's original. At present, I don't have a lot of time to spend on the truck, as I am working about 70 hours a week, with Sunday my only day off. Right now the Burb sits in the garage. My daily driver is a '72 Landcruiser. | | | | Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 1,629 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 1,629 | The "C" knob used to be for a choke that was operated manually. Should be next to the headlight switch. There is a good chance it is no longer hooked up since that truck now has a 350 in it. | | | | Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 21 Apprentice | Apprentice Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 21 | Sounds like the knob/cable may have been replaced. No "C" on the '64 knob, not sure about the '60 - '63 ones. Knobs L to R - Headlights, Wiper, Choke (Steering Wheel) Ign switch, Lighter
As a side note, from the paperwork I found in my truck, looks like it lived in Cody, then went to DuBois, then out here to Kalifornia in the late '60s. Last time I was in Buffalo was in 2000 on my way to Sturgis.

From the light switch, go left 3 and one half inches, then down two inches. There is the location of the "C" knob. It's on the dash, but not on the instrument panel. And from all apperances, it is original equipmemt. Also, I checked with Mile Marker, they do not list a locking hub for a '64 Burb. LMC has a hub listed that works for a 60-66 K10, but when I phoned them, they could not tell me if it would work on a Burb. They suggested I ask a local mechanic. Right! A mechanic in Buffalo, Wyoming is going to know if a hub that works on a '64 pickup will work on a '64 Burb. What with so many '64 pickups and Burbs running around Buffalo, Wyoming. I think not. I have e-mailed everyone at Stovebolt with a photo of a Burb and had no response. Someone out there has to know where I can find hubs. | | | | Joined: May 2006 Posts: 8,351 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: May 2006 Posts: 8,351 | You might try Warn for hubs, they did make them for 4x4s back then, should still be availible as the diff should be a Spicer 44.

Mile marker does list one, the Selectro Classic part # 11001-01, and Summit lists a Milemarker part # MMK-103 as fitting as well for '60-'68. They list for $66.39 for a pair.

How can I determine if these hubs will work on my Burb? | | | | Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 21 Apprentice | Apprentice Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 21 | '64,
First you need to identify that you have the original Dana 44 axle. Look at the front diff cover and to the lower right on the housing you will find some casting numbers "44 - 5F". This is for the 1/2T - 6 lug, closed knuckle axle. This casting number is also on the driveshaft side of the housing. You'll probably have to clean the diff housing with a wire brush to read the numbers.
If your truck has 8 lugs and is really a K10 (and not a K20) someone has put 3/4T axles under it.
Is your transfercase in the center of the truck or attached to the tranny? Stock tranny is the SM420, with reverse to the left and down.
Post some pics of the truck, axle, and the "c" knob...

6 lugs, transfer case in center of truck, reverse to left and down. I won't be able to crawl munder truck to look at front differential until this weekend.
Thanks! '64 Buffalo | | | | Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 1,029 Member | Member Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 1,029 | Why don't you just trace where the cable with the "C" goes? It appears that someone used a choke cable for some other application, maybe hand throttle? | | |
