For helping keep this great

on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 60 Member | | Member Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 60 | Hi there bolters,Been lurkin for a time, owning Chev's for 38 years. Have been cruising the Sub forum with an interest in learning more about the GM version before I make a purchase of a 1950 GMC 100. Have always liked and owned longroofs but was never aware GMC had a Sub. This is a near complete (no Radio) with no ( yup, zero) rust, 2 dollar sized dents, all 4 seats that work, clam gate, and all new glass (including rear) not installed. The engine runs fine but has been replaced. Motor stamped A228323558 ??.It is very solid and the wood in floor has no rot and solid as is the rubber matting. I have never found such a straight and solid truck of any make. Can't find much printed matter on this one. Owner wan't to sell soon. Any op's ??? Welcome to the Stovebolt page...
Can't help you on the value of the Bolt you're looking at, but sounds like a great find.
Where exactly might StinkyTown, Colorado be... I've got a couple of opinions on that, but thought I'd ask and see how close I come. | | | | | Joined: Jun 2001 Posts: 793 Bondo Artiste | | Bondo Artiste Joined: Jun 2001 Posts: 793 | Hello. The engine number you mentioned tells us the Suburban has a GMC 228 6cly engine. I think a GMC Suburban is rare and if you can get a price that both you and seller are comfortable with, complete the sale.

Stinckytown at one time referred to CC, but I call the greater metro from Longmont to Littleton and from DIA to Golden Stinkytown now that we can see and smell the air. After spending some time up in Washington state, I really noticed the terrible air we have here. I'm on 4.0 lpm of O2, so I seem more sensitive to it I suppose. The Sub is in Ft Lup by the way. Phillip, I am comfortable with value if I can get a ballpark price to make an offer since the seller does not even know where to start and awaits an offer from me. I do not want to overoffer or insult the guy with an underoffer. Any ops at all. Thanks again guys. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 637 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 637 | Better to "insult" the owner with a lowball offer that offer too much. Start low, you can always go up, but if too high you can't go down. | | | | | Joined: Apr 2004 Posts: 703 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Apr 2004 Posts: 703 | Jeeminy50,
CC is exactly what I was thinking... Who'd have ever thought they'd actually be host to a Parade of Homes?
Zip me an e-mail, PM, or something, since it seems we're neighbors, we ought to get acquainted.
We (local car guys)do a couple of get together's each weekend in Brighton. You might want to come up and meet some of the guys and have breakfast with us.
I'd love to see the burb you're looking at. Ft. Lupton is only about 15 minutes from home.
Promise I won't even try and buy it out from beneath you. Wife's cut me off of any more purchases, until I build a storage building. | | | | | Joined: Aug 2001 Posts: 10 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Aug 2001 Posts: 10 | Without pics and more information it is hard to give you an accurate price. But I will take a stab at it. Since it is complete and has new glass (that's worth about $600) It has all four seats (that is worth about a $1000) No rust (that's a miracle) Running engine (that's an unknown on condition) Brakes are an unknown, transmission is an unknown, tires are an unknown, interior is an unknown, title and registration is an unknown. Without having any of the unknown s answered I would say $2500-3500. If the unknowns are answered in a positive way $5000 - 7500 I hope that helps and welcome to the Burb section, I have both Chevy's and GMC suburbans. Go to Oldgmctrucks.com for another great site predominantly GMC's. There is a wealth of information on the 47-55 GMC's and Suburbans. | | | | | Joined: Oct 2003 Posts: 5,152 Cruising in the Passing Lane | | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Oct 2003 Posts: 5,152 | I own two GMC Suburbans, a '52 and a '55 1st.
Value relative to that of a Chevy is subject to debate. They don't seem as common as the Chevy but also aren't as popular. I would prefer to think the value advantage goes to the GMC but the truth is that condition and title are probably a lot more significant.
I've been told Colorado is a difficult place to title a car that is missing one...
There are a couple of Suburbans sitting in a wrecking yard in Ellicott (?) named Webb's I think and lots of AD truck parts in another wrecking yard in Canon City that caters to trucks. Ellicott if you can find the road there from Colorado Springs you can find the wrecking yard. The other place you may need to ask a local truck enthusiast. I don't recall the name.
OldGMCTrucks.com web site has some good information including a Suburban brochure. The forums there are GMC centric and you'll find serveral other GMC Suburban owners there. Some of them are really nice. You can decide for yourself if I mean the trucks or the owners...

I now have a clean title and some bonus stuff I did not expect, like new rear wind rubber, A new NOS rear glass in packaging and the side glass channel. He also gave me the door glass channel and the door wipers ( cat whiskers) all is new and packaged. I was going to drive back to Denver, but had it towed since the gas tank in not in and I don't like jerry cans. I also learned he has a 1953 GMC 1/2 tone longbed that he clains is rare and have first crack at that. It is supposedly rust free complete and has only the normal crease just forward of the driver's door on the cowl section behind the front fender. That truck is in storage in the Denver area and will didipic as soon as I have a chance. It is not being advertised in any way at this point. Any Op's on this one. I will do and OP/ASK in the pick-up forum as well. Thanks again guys. | | | | | Joined: Aug 2001 Posts: 10 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Aug 2001 Posts: 10 | | | | | | Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 60 Member | | Member Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 60 | First things first.
