The '47 to '55 1st frames differ because the motors are different and mount a little different. With side mounted motors that should not be an issue.
Look at the rear suspension on any frame you are considering and check to see that it is the same as on your truck. If I remember correctly either might have leafs or coils, though Chevy is usually coil and GMC usually leaf.

I guess that I should have been more clear (even though I ultimately got the answer that I was looking for), I mainly wanted to know front suspension and engine/transmission mounting similarities.
Leafs vs. coils for the rear is not a big issue although I think I like the coils better. Until last month, I used a 60 Chevy 3/4 ton as my personal workhorse. One of the trailing arms finally broke which just sped up its retirement. Otherwise the body would have fallen off soon. I also drive a 2001 Dodge 3/4 as my company vehicle. I carry about 800 lbs of equipment in this truck at all times. I felt that the Chevy was a more comfortable ride whether it was empty or loaded with almost 1.5 tons of scrap. My '62 Suburban has coils in the rear, with T-bar front suspension. -Brad
