It came with no instructions, although I know of a
website that has step by step illustrations.
What I am looking for is some one who has done this convrsion (late model column and steering box) and can give me some feedback.
1) How difficult was it?
2) What column and box did you use?
3) Any advice?

You are gonna need a power steering gearbox off of a mid 70's chevy half ton. You are gonna need a pitman arm with holes about 4" apart unless you sprang the bucks for the one the vendors sell. I used one off a 74 lesabre, and it works ok, but is a little longer than what the kit recommends. You are gonna need a couple of borgeson type u joints to connect your new steering box to your steering column, no matter what column you use, since you are relocating the gearbox. For me, I cut the steering column off about 4 inches on the engine side of the firewall and rigged a bearing in the end of the outer "pipe" to hold the 3/4" steering shaft. This lets me use the stock steering column and the stock steering wheel while gaining power steering. Questions? You can email me at [email protected]. | | |
