Is there a no dry car/truck wash soap on the market? I've tried the Mr. Clean but it's as much work as drying. The dealerships must have something because I see them washing the cars on the lot all the time without drying and have never seen a water spot on a new car.

Mr. Clean markets a car/truck washing system that works great for about $25 and is available at Walmart, etc. It's a gun that screws on a garden hose and has a compartment to fill with their soap and another compartment that holds a filter. You first rinse down the vehicle with plain water (it has a knob to switch from plain to soapy to final rinse water) then swith it to soap - it sprays soapy water - wipe it down with a sponge, then rinse with plain water, then switch to the final rinse water. Leave the vehicle to dry - it drys fast and without any water spots, etc. We love it!! It cuts down on the time and work to wash a vehicle(s).

Dealerships and fleets use deionized water for final rinse.

you are not looking hard enough. New cars are detailed before delivery but not when sitting on the lot.
I work for the industry leader in car care. You get out of it what yo put in it. Take the time to use a quality wash and always dry. Air is best but a soft micrfiber drying towel works great as well. A quality wax will go a long way in helping sheet water

Iceburgh- What would you recommend for a wash? I've got a black Dodge Ram and anything and everything scratches it including washing and drying.

If you can find it use the Meguiars boat wash if not then use soft suds or Gold Class ..... they can be found at almost any retail store.
Let the water and the suds clean the truck....do not rub hard on areas

Most, if not all, of the spot free rinses at commercial car washes are simply filtered water. I've recently seen an ad on TV that claims a spot free rinse but I don't remember the brand. FYI "de"ionized water is everyday water, it is stable and has no charge. Ionized anything is matter that has a nuclear charge normally done by adding or taking away an electron. I love the smell of ionized air in the X-ray cabinet after taking an X-ray when I was studying industrial radiography.

Yeah, that's just what we call it. I guess demineralized would be a more correct term. Soft water.

I use collected water from the runoff of my shop roof. An old sponge and towel and still get a spot free car at the end. The time is a little more involved but I think it gets it cleaner. Also rain water due to the natural acidicness of it removes bug splatters really well. The only problem I ever have is my windshield. I gave up long ago and when it is nice and clean from road dirt and grime I simply take out the windex for the streak free shine.

I used one a few years ago made by Blue Coral called self dry. If I remember correctly it worked pretty good. I have some left, I'll have to try it and report back.
