Trying to put some tires on the truck. Not many choices, what Im finding out is that the 16.5" x 9.5 is now considered a trailer rim/tire. I have found a Cooper tire and a Kuhmo (korean) tire, but not much selection. Considering convertion to a 16" rim if I can find the right pattern. Im thinking it might be beneficial for conversion to disc brakes later and wider selection of tire in future. I'd like to keep it original as possible but there have been a other "modifications" elsewhere on the truck. Any thoughts out there?

There is a light polish on the inside of the 265/75 on the front, doesn't show on the 235/75. My only compliant is I wish the rear width was 8 instead of 6. I'll see Stockton about wider rims the next time I need tires which will be soon.

I was a Chevrolet mechanic and parts man from 68-73. The best I remember is they didn't come uot with 16.5s until 69 or 70. Probably the reason you have 16.5s is everyone used them for years and those tires were cheaper(maybe) and for sure easier to find. Many people changed wheels for that reason.
