I've got a '62 Suburban: 283, original Granny Low 4spd manual trans.
I'm going to swap the trans for a later New Process 4spd. manual OD trans. Does anyone know off the top of their heads if the bearing retainer plate is going to be the same? Will my later trans bolt up to the earlier bellhousing without problem, or am I going to need a big bushing?
Thanks,
-Brad

I did this swap last year on a 66. The bearing retainer is just a little too big on that new process tranny. Just measure the hole on your bellhousing and take the retainer to a machine shop. As I recall they took about a quarter inch off mine. Cost me $10 and then it bolts up fine.
