A few weeks ago the screw that holds the dist. points let loose when i down shifted going down a steep hill causing a very large backfire which blew open my muffler at the seam. I have been looking at all the usual online places for a replacement muffler and can not find a muffler for my truck. Does anyone know who has an original looking muffler for my truck?

Hy carryall jerry, can you not match it up using the original ones dimensions, I can't actually find a listing for that application in my Walker exhaust book if you give us the dimensions, shape, end augmentations I can try and find a match, hope that helps.

Hi 3B, my muffler is a 6 1/2" diameter cylinder, 21 1/2" long. the inlet is on the top(of the end) of the muffler with the out being on the bottom of the back end. the pipe appears to be about 1 3/4" inch OD. I looked on Napa's site and couldn't find(didn't see) a match. Thanks. Jerry.

Hy carryall jerry, could you verify the mufflers inlet and outlet sizes please, most around that period seem to have a 2" inlet and 1 7/8" outlet, also is it a 6 or V8 engine thanks.

Sorry to hear about your issues. Take the muffler off and take it to your local auto parts store or full-service muffler shop. They will have what you need or be able to identify it for you. Per your description, it sounds like a glass pack or Cherry Bomb. There are many look-alike mufflers on the market and you should be able to find one that fits your application.

3B,the inlet size is 2" and the outlet appears to be 1 7/8". Its a 292 6cylinder.
4-5-6, I'm trying to avoid going to the local parts place because of a major highway construction project that has traffic all snarled here. we only have one muffler shop in town and he is not cheap. Thanks. Jerry

Hy carryall jerry, Walker p/n 21331 has the correct inlet/outlet, it is 6" round, its shell is 20" long, and its overall length is 27", it's the same muffler as the one used in pickups of the era, hope that helps.

Thanks 3B. I guess I'll have to go to my flaps, at least I have number to give to the counter help there, most of the help wasn't even born when my truck was made and don't really seem to know to look up and cross reference parts for old trucks. thanks again, Jerry.
