How easy is it to put a 396 into a 66 1/2 ton?

What tranny are you gonna hook it up to? By any chance have you seen a white 65 Chevy stepside out there for sale. It's in the Buy&Sell, and Trader. I'm interested in it, but I gotta sell my 50 3/4T Chevy first. Just curious if you've seen it that all. Welcome aboard, glad another "Canuck" is on here, now that brings our total to what...3 or 4 from BC and 5 to 10 total for Canada

Shouldn't be too hard to do, with motor mount changes. There's plenty of room for it.

Unless you already have an sm420/sm465, I hope you plan on buying a new tranny. The torque of that big block will kill the stock turbo 350 or saginaw 3 speed.

The turbo 350 will be fine but as fyler says the 3 speed sag will self destuct. The motor is a bolt in deal same mount just slot the holes in the frame slightly(i weld the mounts on the fram when done)

My dad and I put a '70 396 in his (now my) '65 SWB C10.
It bolted right up, though we had to hack and slash the headers that were on the El Camino to make them fit. (The days before ready cash. )
Manifolds would be my choice now. (Old age creeping.)
I would make sure your radiator is up to the task.
The stock three speed lived a long time, as my Dad only ate TransAms, Mustangs and Porsches from a rolling start!
