Howdy Folks,

Well, after waiting for 14 months and then driving 2320 kms round trip in two days, I finally got my new 58 GMC home.

When I got there, the guy had two more 58's. Here\'s one of them.

I wished that I could have dragged them all home. Oh well. Maybe in a couple more years I can go back.

What an adventure!

Zeke

The more I see of the 58's and 59's...startin' to like those too.

(Blasphemy alert!) I'm thinking it would be neat to hot rod one...the lines on that truck would be great with a hot rod paint job.

grin

Nah. Chrome everything that will unbolt from the front. That's what I'd do.
Where'd you go, Ezekiel? Winnipeg?

I agree that the truck in the link looks like a 59: at least that looks like the hood chrome on a 59. The 58 hood emblem was a little smaller on the 58 among other slight differences.

Hey Guys,

Yup. It is definitely a 59. At least, according to the VIN but not according to the DOT.

It seems that back in the fall of 1958, the 1959 model came out and got sold and then the DOT registered these trucks as 1958's because it was 1958. I know this wasn't just a mistake because I had another 1959 Chevy that was registered as a 1958.

And now, 49 years later, when I go to register the truck in my name, the DOT insists that it is a 1958 model.

Who are you going to believe? DOT or GM?

Oh, hotshoe36. I had to go to Swan River, MB.

Your 58 and my 58 look about the same when we brought them home. Cept mines step and a bowtie...oh and got them fancy mag wheelies on mine. They have got to go...gonna trade a fella the five wheels and tires for five tires that fit the original rims.

So let me get this straight... if I lower My 59', stuff a nasty V8 in and some metalic paint it's "BLASPHEMY". Oooops, someone should have told me ahead of time. grin
