Just though I would give any of you that have been thinking of purchasing a set of “Chevrolet Service News” for your libraries a book report.
I finally decided to throwing a set for my 1950 model as an order filler last time round. There is a lot of info directed toward the cars but the truck changes are also included. There are 12 bulletins, one for each month for the calendar year you choose. They are printed on high quality paper and the two color (red & black) print quality is excellent. I could not tell them from the original documents other than the small “CHEVY ACRES REPRINT” in the lower left corner. These are not Xerox copies, they are high quality printed bulletins. The company that is reproducing them includes a leaflet in the sealed envelope with their address as Chevy Acres, 116 Oak St., Brillion, WI, 54110.
This is one of the very few reproduction items that I have bought that I am 100% satisfied with! I only have a 1950 truck but I’m planning on filling in the other years in the future just to complete my reference library.

I agree with your review completely. One additional comment. For those who are only interested in one model year, I'd recommend that you also buy the year before and the year after the year of interest. There were often items about the upcoming models at the end of the prior year's issues and a few follow up items in the next year's issues.

Out of curiosity.... what are they charging for the year sets???

I have a set of the "service news" that spans from 1946 through 1972..... I bought mine at the estate auction of a guy that had collected every copy of the service news...all the tech cullitins..and a copy of every shop manuel that chevy produced....during those years.... As he worked for a chev dealer in Spokane......

I had a field day at that sale.... between buying the manuels/bullitins/sevice news.... I also bought his collection of "special" tools that he'd collected from his years at Chevy....

I kept the manuels and stuff that applied to my rigs..as well as most of the service news and the special tools...and sold the rest at various old car awap meets......

That's a shame to have broken up such a fine reference library Michael. To a guy like me who just thrusts for reference material, for a complete package like that I would have put the kid up for collateral till the loan went through. Why don't you contact "Chevy Acres" they may be interested in the service news that you have left for reproduction purposes. I think they are offering the community a great service, reproducing this so we can all have a copy in out possession.
Oh, question, $16 a year with the vendors markup.

Thanks Denny.....

Oh I still have the service news...as well as the original lit. from Garwood for the R20/R30/R30W/R40/R50 hoists/dumps.... including the original parts and illistrations booklet... Also the original lit. for the Dump-o-matic twin-cylinder hoists..

Basicly what I sold off was the car stuff... factory shop manuels for all the cars from 52 thru 72...... and the late 60's truck stuff.... no point in keeping that which I'd never use... as I felt it would be better in the hands of those folks that could use it.. and maybe??? more old cars kept/restored on the road
