My interest in Chevy Trucks is for the '64-'66 years, however I often hear and read about other eras of Chevy Trucks, wondering what years were covered in these eras and the titles of each era. Below is a summary that may be helpful to others wondering about the same information:

1918-1935 Pioneer Era Trucks
1936-1940 Streamline Era Trucks
1941-1947 Art Deco Series Era Trucks
1947-1955 Advance Design Series Era Trucks
1955-1959 Task Force Era Trucks
1960-1966 V-8 Era Trucks
1967-1972 Custom Sports Era Trucks
1973-1987 Modern Era Trucks
1988-1998 New Generation Era Trucks

This information was pulled from the Illustrated Buyer's Guide, Chevrolet Pickup Trucks, Second Edition by Tom Brownell. We are now all educated about what era our respective trucks belong to.

The Series page for the Tech Tips VIN code thing-a-ma-bob has the following 'names' for the different years:

'29 "International"
'30 "Universal"
'31 "Independence"
'32 "Confederate"
'33 "Eagle/Master Eagle"
'44-'46 "Victory"
'47-'54 "Advance Design"
'55-'59 "Task Force"

Then the list kind of drops off until the '73 to '87 trucks, which it refers to as 'Rounded Line'.

Not sure which source is the most accurate.. but I can tell you every piece of literature i've seen on the '47 thru '53 Chevrolet trucks has called it ADVANCE DESIGN and not ADVANCED DESIGN.

an idea is only stupid if you think about it rationally.
