Howdy, I was new here a few weeks back and I'm sure that's still the case.

In thinking of what I'm gonna do with my new project, I was looking at my wheels last night and trying to figure out what to replace them with. I'm gonna stick with the dually setup because I'm gonna make a "mini-semi" type of tow vehicle out of it.

I haven't broken any of the wheels loose yet and was wondering if anyone could tell me exactly what other standard wheels would fit it (8 lug patern) or if I should just trash the axles and put on something more modern.

Any thoughts? Here's some pics I put on my own website.

Most 8-lug wheels will fit the lug pattern. The trick is finding ones that will fit over the brakes and not hit the tie rods.

I believe yours are 18 inch split rims. I have a '49 1-ton that came with four different wheels that look like someone just went to a pile of cast-off wheels and grabbed the first four. It might not be hard to find what you need.

The other question to consider is your brakes. Some parts for the bigger brakes are harder to find. I'd suggest deciding what you are going to do with the brakes before getting too involved in the wheel issue.

Meanwhile, next time I go through Salt Lake I'd be happy to stop and load those up and carry they away for you. I have four and want to have at least seven...

Thanks. I think they are 18's. They are split rims for sure because I noticed them when looking the other day.

I'm gonna go with newer wheels but stick with the dually concept but might also be doing a different front and rear axle from a newer vehicle.

If you come through, you can take some things if I'm that far along, sure.

looks like you have split lock ring wheels as opposed to split wheels. I had 17 inch wheels on the front of my 48 but it's been so long I can't remmeber what I got them off of. Didn't try them on rear as I had good 18 inch back there.

Wow Kelly, you are lucky to have found that 47. I'd run it though the shop and put it back to orginal. Would make a nice little brother for our 47 big bolt. As i looked at your photos, i see the trigger shifter and straight brake handle used only in the 47 models. I'm curious however about the loadmaster and thriftmaster hood emblams you have. The correct one for this truck should be the thriftmaster ones. The other ones go with a larger truck than this. I'm also curious to see a photo of the floor pan, in the area of the bolts holding the cab on the frame. Would like to see if its like mine. Welcome to the bolt, let me know if you need help on your 47's rebirth.
