Well, I finally got my motor to run real nice. I figured out that I had a bad carburator. That thing fires right up and purs like a kitten. I can actually turn the idle all the way down and it just sits there and idles like a sewing machine. So I decided to take it down the road and back for a ride. It hasn't been under it's own power like that in over 20 years! What a strange feeling driving it. Shifts real good too. I still need to wire it, I'm running it straight off of the battery. Did I said it feels wierd? I guess I'm used to driving my 2001 Dodge Ram. When I get up some more nerve, I'm gonna take it around the block......it's FUN!! grin grin grin

I know the feeling! While not a Chevy, I took my '48 Willys project out for its maiden voyage to the gas station last night. Woo hoo!

Congrats to both. Even after a couple weeks it is still a joy to be driving a truck after it has been down a while. Enjoy and have fun.

Cool Steppenwood! I would have to agree, it is a wierd feeling driving your own project truck. I never knew a stovebolt was such a smooth running engine..even after a 25 year rest.

Gee whiz John, you and 46Inprogress are making me look bad. grin I'll bet that Tommy Mack is doing laps around his block by now. Seriously, congrats to you and the rest on your first drives. Nice to hear that you have the truck running as good as it looks.

steppenwood,
That is one beautiful 46 pickup truck! You have come close to being a miracle worker with that truck!!!!
I would be hard pressed to tell you when I saw a truck that looked better than your 46!!!!
