I have just become the owner of a 53 GMC Truck..Sorta, I came across a smokin deal on a solid cab, fenders, grill, and hood, but no frame. Since I'm new to these trucks, what is the best frame to swap it with. What I'm lookin for is just a small block powered truck, with automatic, and want it lowered with steel wheels. Just something cool looking. I hate high dollar trucks, and want a "Rat Rod." Any help from you guys is appreciated very much.

Welcome Joe. The best suggestion I can give (and the most likely answer you'll get) is to use an '82-'91 long bed S-10 chassis. It's a rather popular conversion among the AD owners. Installing a small block is no problem as there are many conversion kits around, and upgrading the suspension and brakes are easy, too. Lots of good lowering kits to get the stance you want. The conversion also fixes the wheelbase issue that the stock frame has.
