Mick Inniss here!! Would anybody be interested in going together from Oregon and Wash. over to Montana Andy's Party. A Stovebolt Convoy, I think it would be nice to go as a group just in case anybody breaks down. I myself am planing to take spare u-joints yolk's and small spare parts just in case. What do you guy's think about this? Need some feedback here!!! It would also be a chance to get to know one another on a personal basis. Sorry sould have put this in the Lounge Thank's Mick Inniss

I'm all over that. I was going to take the ferry from Victoria to Mount Vernon and the drive down to Seattle. At Seattle I'll hook up to I90. At one point I thought maybe we out here could hook up at Ellensburg or Seattle whatever worked best for you guys from Oregon. I'd pull out of here the Monday "before" the trip and maybe overnight in Seattle and get an early start. I'm figuring at least 3 days from Seattle how about you? Will that be enough? That way we'd have Tues, Wed, Thurs and Friday if we needed it.

im looking forward to it. yes going together might be real smart. If i can get this old thing back together by then im going. It would be a;lot of fun to have a group going.

I think we really got something going here if ya guys want I can get it together as far as dates and places to stop on the way. I take it we will be camping on a 2 maybe 3 day trip to get to Montana. What you guy's think? KOA Camp grounds with Showers? It will probably take Nate a week to get up this far in right lane!!! Hey Machainiac if we could talk Ken into coming he might be able to engineer a device to get those chevy boys over the hill :p Dusty get some of that money out of that sock in the back yard, and fly to Portland I'll pick you up!!!! You can't miss this one, you can take your own pic's!! Serously I'll check into route, Pit stops, and figure an average of 45-50 MPH trip if you want. At this point in time I plan on going, the trucks not running right now but hopefully it will be by then. I have a plan, but have to whisper, so you know who, can't hear me and [censored] about dragging the 62 behind the motorhome.
We should see if we can work something out and drive up together. I don't know if Mr. Proffit is going but would be cool if we could all convoy up. We could meet up with the Oregon crowd on the way and go from there.

I have been East from Vancouver / Portland a couple of times taking several different routes (I get bored easily). Along the 84 in Oregon or on 14 on the Washington side (slower and better suited to old trucks), then up 97 to Wenatchee and up over to 90 and head east. You could also do this same thing going North on I-5 and either cross on HWY12 over White pass or go north to HWY18 to I90 and cross the Snoqualmie pass. 6 of 1 or half dozen of the other, the Southern route has easier passes. It takes a little longer to go the northern route for those down here, but we could meet on I90 east of the mountains somewhere and camp the first night.

I vote for something just the other side of the mountains. Then make Idaho on the second day and then Montana the third day. Last time I drove to Montana, left at 6:00 in the morning and pulled into St. Regis at 9:00 at night . . . average speed was a little faster clip than 45mph though . . .

Bullfoot, What's those Doctors know?? We aren't "practicing", they are. We're "DOING". I'm certain that you have a ride iff'n Big Red hasta pull that aeroplane trailer o' yourn there and back. So just "cheer-up" and start "KICKEN'".

Ken that sounds like a good plan to meet at say Ellensburg on wednesday night on 1-90, that's a strait shot from Seattle area for the Wash. boy's. From there about 200 miles to Coeur D'Alene Idaho area for the night. Then about 100-110 miles to Heron Montana, Home of the big Andy. This would put us at Andy's late morning or early afternoon on Friday. Maybe we could meet in Longview Wash on I-5 say 10 am on Wednesday morning to pick up the Calif, So. Oregon gang that are coming up. What do you guys think? Thank's Mick Inniss

Yah, hoo! Dam...er...darn, if I didn't already live here, I'd be comin' with ya! Sounds like you guys are gonna have a good time on the way.
Just so you know, for sure, it will be on the last weekend of August, 2002. Once I get an idea of just how many people are gonna show up, I'll start working on getting enough pig for a roast on Sat or Sun. nights

By the way, Ken, if you know where St. Regis is, that is a real good way to get up to Hwy 200. But then you gotta go left for sixty miles or so to find Heron. It might be quicker to take 95 north out of Coeur 'd Alene to Sandpoint, and then 200 east to Montana. We are only 3.5 miles from the Idaho border, here...

I'll hit St. Regis after the shindig at your place. I have a good friend who runs Camp Bighorn down in that area and he is going to have a heart attack when he sees me pull in with my tribe in an AD suburban!

Montana Andy, I figured Coeur D'Alene area would be a good area to spend the night. I looked on the map where you where talking about, it looks like the best route!! how far is it from Coeur D' Alene up to your place? It's 2200 miles from SE Kentucky to NW Montana, about 40 hours of driving, and we are considering it. Crazy? Might stop and see friends in Chicago and Minneapolis on the way. Who knows? It could happen.

Sorry I haven't answered, Mick. I, too, have been shut out of the board by the evil computer gremlins, for a couple of days.
YES, I will have camping area, here, on my place. I have 28 acres of field that we can fill right up with old trucks. Coeur d'Alene is about eighty miles away; just over an hour's drive. Why stop and pay money when, with a little more drive, you can have all the full of camping out?
And for all you back east folk, I know it is a three or four day drive (if you're slow) but the trip is worth it. ESPECIALLY if you have never been out this way... This area is some of the most remote and most beautiful in the lower forty-eight!

Hey Andy thanks for getting back with me!! Looks like about 300 miles from Ellensburg Wash. to you place. At 50 MPH it would take about six hours plus stopping for lunch for about an hour. And of course that time of year it is light till 10 PM, I would be up for it, but there might be some folks in the convoy that might not. And that is saying, there will be no troubles. We will have to see. Now I have to talk my wife into not taking a shower while we are camping for 3 day's YEAH RIGHT!!!!!!
