I get a kick out of tire sizes
what do those numbers mean?
I guess the pre metric tires had letters.
But can you believe there is a 235/70/15?
I guess we can get along if we try.
Do metric nations like japan or germany have 15 inch rims?

"Do metric nations like japan or germany have 15 inch rims?"

The Japanese have 15" lims; kinda like flied lice, but that's another story.

All original "Duck" tape used to be fractional sized Army green. It wasn't until the tape become multi-colored and renamed Duct tape that it was offered in metric sizes.

Folks -

I'm as American as long as the blood runs through my veins. But realize as a kid, I learned that metric system and was taught that we would be moving to the metric system in the near future. And I'm 46! That's four centimeters and six millimeters old... Men use this system to your advantage. Six inches long equates to about 15 CM long. Confuse the girls with new math.

The reality is that we are the only industrialize nation that doesn't embrace the metric system. The biggest reason is due to the fact that retooling our plants would be too costly for Corporate America. And the industrial lobbyist have a strong hold on congress... read got money and have congressional personnel by the short hair.

I feel better know, I can go back to my wife and internationally mixed children, Kentucky bourbon, my 56 Chevy TF and know that I don't have to worry about what wrench to grab, because I own a set of both.

Be adaptable, it lowers the blood pressure. Besides, there are far more important things to worry about. Like who's paying off your local congressman?

Happy Hollandaise....

I think what appeals about these old iron rattle traps is that it reminds me of a simpler time. I pumped gas in high school. Full service. Washed your windows, checked your oil. Gas was maybe 31 cents a gallon? I couldn't put $3 worth in a VW.

I had metric. Used them on an old Austin Healy. Those limey cars were junk but they sure were fun. That old car would be worth 50k now. Sold it for $300 back in the day.

Also had a '56 Nomad, a '58 Belair, Plymouth Fury, Corvair, and so many others I can't even remember them all. Worked on all of them. Greasy fingerprints everywhere. Drove my mom crazy.

The mirror I bought from those ##@@@#%!!!!'s at Classic Industries (they think they're all that and a bag of chips) saw the chrome start to rust in a few weeks. Tried to shine it up with some wax but some of the tarnish remained because the chrome is el cheapo. Probably made in Sri Lanka or some such place on dirt floors where the people are barefoot and make 50 cents a day.

Ahhh the good old days....
