Hypothetically speaking , if they were not present when I disassembled the brakes would it be catastrophic if they were absent upon reassembly? and with that the old girl is almost back on her feet again , thank you very much for any replies | | | | | Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 2,832 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 2,832 | It's to return the shoe that moves when you apply the hand brake back to the "at rest" or retracted position. Without it you may get a grinding noise if that shoe rubs the drum when the brake is not applied.
