I started out to change these cables on my 64 C10 and I'm having trouble getting the old frozen cables off. Is there any trick to this I am missing or should I just cut them off and go with the replacement process. I have already wasted 30 minutes trying to get the old cable off and it still won't do anyting but wiggle slightly. Any help would be appreciated.

If the problem is at the backing plate & they snap in, I just take a screwdriver & snap off the fingers.

They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing.

I tried that but maybe just didn't have a screwdriver big enough. i'm going out again and keep trying. Just hate to spend lots of time on something that should be simple but that is the story of my life. Thanks for the reply.

I got it. Cut one finger and then the rest broke easy. Only problem now is it's starting to rain and I was doing this job outside. Guess I will have to wait until tomorrow to finish.
