Today I got another old truck it is a 48 it has a homeade wrecker on it it has a gross weight of 5800 pounds what size is it is it a 3600 or a 3800

In the vin number which number is the year on mine the first number is a 8 and I was told is was a 48 it does have vent windows if that makes any difference any help is appreciated

if it has wing windows, its a '51 or newer. unless the doors were changed.

That VIN would make it a 1948 3600. Go to the American Classics link at the top of the page, then click on their "VIN Decoder" link, put the VIN in the box and click "go" and it'll come back with all sorts of good information on the ol 'bolt. Have fun with it.

According to my sources, it's a 1948 3600, built in Atlanta, in October.

It is a 48, but with non-original doors!

I finally got the passengers side window rolled up

I got this truck from jeff martin. He told me a story that made me sick. This truck originally belonged to craig baker who owned a wrecker service in the 60's and 70's. He would gather up old cars trucks and parts. When he died his wife would not sell anything because she was afraid of somebody getting hurt so the crushed them. Jeff knew the people. He went over there with $10000 cash to buy stuff and they would not let him in. They crushed probaly 200 cars. There were old camaros, belairs and such. Many were restorable. There was also old big blocks and such. All the cars wre crushed and the motors were scooped up with a loader and dumped in a trailer. The wife still runs the wrecker service. When I see her driving the wrecker it makes me mad to tink she would have all those cars and parts crushed
