The truck data plate calls for OE 10 oil below 32Deg. and OE 30 above 32 Deg. htese are basically Non- Detergent motor oils. Is there anyone out there that might know what the best oil would be now. There ahs been a lot of changes in oils since 56. Would the Transmission/ Hydralic oils used by Farm Tractors and Industrial equipment be the equivilent? This type oil is used in Allison Transmissions.
I have heard of people using Dexron III. I just wanted to know if any of you have a 50's GMC with this transmission and what you use.
This is my first dealings with this transmission.
Thanks for any help.

You'll have to search for the numbers. Memphis Equip also sells a REB kit which is something like a shift kit which is supposed to substancially improve tranny life. These trannys have a poor reputation and lots of em got replaced with clark five speeds. jason
