Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Nov 2003 Posts: 70 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Nov 2003 Posts: 70 | I have a beater 49 3100 that I would like to make drivable without putting to much money into. I have a 79 Nova rearend that I believe has 2.56 gears. I also have a stock 4sd from a 63 Suburban. When I used to drive the Suburban I only used 2nd, 3rd and 4th. If I used the Nova rearend with the 63 4sd, would I basically have a 3sd with overdrive. If 4th gear was 1.00, the RPM calculator shows 2150 RPM @ 70mph with 28" tires. It seems like with this combo I would use 1st, 2nd and 3rd. 4th would be like an overdrive. Maybe I'm way off base but I'd like to use some of the parts that I have laying around. Does anybody know what the gear ratios are in this tranny. Any thoughts on this? | | |
