For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 49 Apprentice | | Apprentice Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 49 | I have a 49 five window short bed with a 350 SB and Turbo400 Does anyone know about what this truck might weigh. I am looking for new tires in the 60 series and the tire man said I had to watch the weight factor. The truck is up on block so I can't weight it. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2006 Posts: 319 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Mar 2006 Posts: 319 | I believe you need the gross vehicle weight not the curb weight when considering new tires. In other words what will the truck weigh fully loaded, not empty. This chart from the site maintained by Keith Hardy will give you the info for the original vehicle. I don't think your updated engine and tranny should change the numbers that much. Hope this helps. http://chevy.tocmp.com/1948_51truckshop/51ctsmA4.htm
