Does anyone have a copy of this article or remember it? | | | | Joined: Nov 2000 Posts: 119 Member | Member Joined: Nov 2000 Posts: 119 | Can't help ya there, Old Gold, but I have been thinking about a potential Tech Tip.
What if we started a list of magazine tech articles that dealt specifically with Chevy and GMC trucks?
I've been scanning tech articles into PDF files so I can get rid of my stacks and stacks of magazines. I can problably list 20 or so right off the bat.
Any interest in this? | | | | Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 424 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 424 | Absolutely! But there may be some copyright infringement issues, I'm not sure. It's not like we'd be selling them for profit though, so maybe not. It would definitely be great to have our own refernce library of tech articles.
Wait, I just read your post again and I see that you were just talking about a list of tech articles. No copyright problems there. | | | | Joined: Dec 2002 Posts: 3,374 Moderator - The Electrical Bay | Moderator - The Electrical Bay Joined: Dec 2002 Posts: 3,374 | I might have it too.. it would just take an act of god for me to actually find it!!!

To be truthful,I don't know what the designation is for the '60-'66 models, and I own a '62! But what I am talking about is posting a LIST of the articles, not copies of the actual articles. At least if you knew which magazine it was in, you might find one among your friends or maybe on eBay. | | | | Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 424 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 424 | Well if you find the one about shortening a 55-59 frame, please let me know. Even if someone could tell me what issue that was in would be extremely helpful. I'd like to see how the pros did it. | | | | Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 28 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 28 | Old Gold -- I have a complete set of Classic Trucks and Custom Classic Trucks magazines. Don't remember an article on the Task Force truck, but I have one on the 67-72 truck. It's in the Aug. '95 issue of Classic Trucks. Should be about the same... I'd be happy to scan the article and email it to you. | | | | Joined: Nov 2000 Posts: 119 Member | Member Joined: Nov 2000 Posts: 119 | OK, here's a start, based on my inventory:

I may be totally wrong about the year of that article. Now that I think about it it could have been earlier than 2003. I seem to remember being married to my first wife when I read it. That would put it back to 2002 or before. Most of the articles are by Doc Frohmader, who I surmise is a freelancer. I've seen a lot of his articles in different magazines. 292 fans should check out the "Six Pack To Go" series. | | | | Joined: Jul 2005 Posts: 88 Member | Member Joined: Jul 2005 Posts: 88 | We (Classic Trucks) did that on Project Old School ('64 GMC longbed) a few years back, as Marc pointed out. Wasn't aware of CCT doing anything similar back then, but I didn't really start paying attention to what they did up until recently. Old Gold, do you need a copy of the magazine with the frame shortening? I can send you one if so.
