I saw where this is a debated topic. But I want to mount my spare on the fender of my 59 stepside it has the factory fender cut out but when I puchased the truck the hardware was gone that holds the spare on and I can't seem to find where to buy it or what it looks like. Actually my wife wants me to mount the spare in the factory spot and I agree if it keeps the money flowing into restoring the truck.

Welcome to the board anyway I'll try to get a picture of it and describe it. where to find one I do not know. Have looked in all the books and haven't seen it yet. About a month ago somebody else was looking for one.

I have seen several mounts on ebay in the last several months. Set up a search in "My ebay" and it will e-mail you when one pops up. Good luck. :p

They named it Apache cause it has a patchy welded here and a patchy welded there.

I'm fortunate, my truck came with all of it's parts, including the side spare mount which I really like...

But couldn't you take the LMC mount to a local welder and have him (or her!) put on a different plate with studs on it for the size wheel you have... I've seen it done....

I looked at LMC and the only spare tire mount I saw was for in the bed. I do think if someone could email me a good pic and the measurements I could make it fairly easy I figure it is a simple design. let me know if someone saw the step side spare mount at LMC. I know alot of people have changed fenders to do away with fender mount spares and aren't going to use the hardware I would be interested.

Hey popcorn, could you e-mail me a set of the measurements and pics. I've been thinking of converting my stepisde to the fender mount spare also.
