| | | | Joined: Feb 2003 Posts: 218 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Feb 2003 Posts: 218 | I have about exhausted my brainpower on figuring how to make my alternator bracket fit on the remanufactured 250 that I have put in my truck.
The alternator needs to be about 11\16" farther forward than the bracket will allow. I thought about adding on to the bracket, but it looks like it is made of pot metal, so I'm not sure it can be welded. The bracket fit the same alternator on the original 250, however this one seems to be a mystery block. I can't find an Id to match the casting numbers, and the boys at Jasper who rebuilt it can't tell me what the heck it is out of either. The bolt holes for the bracket match those on the block. It just isn't far enough forward to line up with the crank or water pump pullies.
If any of you have a bracket off a 250 a pic would be appreciated. This is keeping me from starting the new motor, trying the new power steering and getting the truck to a place where I had hoped to do some body work.
To say the least it has become very frustrating and bogged the project down.

I could put washers on, but that would just move the mount further from the block. It mounts on the side of the block. I have both a one and two groove pulley. The two groove JUST misses and the one is off 11/16.
