well heres my problemo...
i just found a sweet original 52 chevy stepside long box,the only thing wrong with it is a litlle cosmetic on the dash,{cracked paint},6 volt,new battery,3/4 ton,six,two owners and the last owner had it painted tan(originally green)about fiteen years ago, sweet ol school suede interior, but nothing that molested the integrety,clean title and the guy who owned it last owned a body shop. to me if there was putty and rust it would have showed up by now,he is asking 4500.00-5000.00,but the problem is i am having a hell of a time finding a cab for my 59,i am done with the chassy and got about 3500.00 invested in the project including the parts truck,,should i get the the52 and sell out the 59 or dump the 52 and put the cash into the 59? :confused: i will have pics tomorrow of the 52,, witch one is worth more? an original 52 or a pieced up 59?

Let me give you my opinion.

First of all, with another $4500, your truck could be quite far along. (Like a SOLID cab, all your rust repaired (not painted), and a good running engine[which you may already have]). You know what you got, and you know what you need.

Second, chances are, you're going to lose some of the money that you put into your dearest '59.

Third, as they always say, buy the best truck you can with the money you got and work from there.

Fourth, after you buy this nice little '52. You're guarnteed to have to put money into it.

Fifth, time. You may not have your '59 done for a couple more years (one at least). With this '52, if it is as good as you say, you may be driving it in a few months.

So what I say is if you can get maybe $2500 for your '59. Your not doing to bad and then if you buy this '52, you've got something solid and potentially drivable (slow lane of course). Tough decision, we've all had these times. I say stick with the '59. But we want pictures, maybe I'm wrong.

Its simple. You keep the 59, otherwise you'll have to change your handle from '59 gmc' to '52 Chevy'.

pics later on today, the 52 is very drivable and has only gone 200 miles in 15 years, parades and so forth,garage kept, the only rust i found was on the chrome tonneau snaps! which will come off with a litle scotch brite

OK, if you can afford it, buy it and put it on eBay for sale for a nice little profit or maybe you have something else close by. In the meantime drive it, carefully, but enjoy. When sold the profit goes to the '59, you have had a "taste" of it and working on the '59 it is more fun.
If you can't afford it, make him a deal to sell it for him for a small fee, you get to drive it for a picture shoot and showing to potential buyers (your brother in law, that guy from work )
Once sold, your fee goes to something special in/on your bolt and you finish it with more fun.
I know, but I can't help it, I'm/was Dutch, that's the only way they make money over there.

It’s a labor of love. I personally have more love for the one I put more time and effort into. Nevertheless, it would mean less frustration. Hard decision. I’d hang on to both if I could afford it. Good luck deciding!!!

I don't see the delema.

thanks guys,, the wife said.....i mean i told her that i was buying it and she agreed...so i struck the deal and next week i will trailer it home and start lovin her.
but as a jesture of good will to my 2nd wife i will part out the 58,,,first come first served,,,most of what you can see on my webshots page, since i had back surgery last year i don't have the stamina to work in the shop for long anyway, but there is still work to do while i drive the new one. thanks again guys,

From the looks of the pictures, and your description of the new truck, it appears you'll be out there cruising and enjoying the scenery a whole lot sooner than you might have been.

Summer's too short to spend it in the garage. Especially up there in the arctic.

Good decision. I think any 'bolt your driving is worth 10 times more than a frame in the garage.
(Although I liked what you did with the '59 engine & trany)
