I know I have seen this topic before, but There is a place, and I got this from another board, OldGMCtrucks.com Discussion Boards :

"For any one in the NW who might be interested he is only open Thurs, Fri and Sat. From I-84 exit 25 (Idaho), head east to first road on Left (old highway 30 @ the shell gas station) head north on this road for approx 3 miles to sign that says "Hopkins Antique autos". It used to be a tree farm at one time and from the road you can't even see the cars. I would rather this stuff gets bought that crushed and sold for scrap."

There is even A Few Photo Here , looks like Old StoveBolt Heaven

Jolly,

That is really something. Fantastic to say the least.

I wish I lived somewhere near there...

Can we help Wendy?

I would hate to see this collection go to a scrapper!

I am trying Truck'26 wink

Cross posting here, same as http://www.stovebolt.com/bboard/cgi-bin//ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=34&t=000305#000003

Hi,
I never knew the guy or Wendy, before I saw the add, it is going in an auction soon, but farmers don't care about them and they'll go for nothing to the scrapper, $50 a ton cause they'll have to be hauled for 80 miles. It's a shame that that can happen, that's why I posted them. Rolling is better than rusting. I've been back there last night, my wife likes the Cady, asking $3500 Canadian, needs some work, but nothing major as far as I can tell, seats redone or covered, window rubbers in the doors and to make it perfect new paint job on hood and trunk, or the whole machine while you're sanding. I've made more pictures for those who are interested. I'm trying to talk her out of it, we can't buy all the cars she likes

Richard,

Is this the same Stovebolt Heaven that was in your saga?

Just curious.

 I don't know what you mean, Wendy's place is just a farm that has to be cleared and Gary's Yard is a professional salvage yard with an exceptional owner, there is no relation but the Chevy/GMC logo between the two.

Ok I got it, the pictures from above are not taken in Gary's Yard, we don't have that many trees around here, why do you think we call our place” The Bald [censored] Prairie Farm”, we are more like the edge of the dessert, just enough water to stay alive, sometimes. But we do have the nicest truck trucks here. I guess there will be more places as nice as Gary’s Yard around the world. A real Stovebolter deserves a place like that close by, just to drool over and snoop for parts. I’m just very lucky that it is so close grin

I really dig those satellite photo maps at Google.com, here are the two yards I found on my trip to Idaho to get that Toro-Flow, seen from the air, this one is on Highway 30 just west of Burley, Yard One , and this one is east/south of Declo, Yard Two . I did see many old GMC/Chevy trucks, Cool eh?

I've been to Hopkins Antique Auto.

Jolly this is the place I visited the day after I stopped at your place. Very few 60-66 trucks and not one of them was a GMC.

Probably a dozen AD trucks, most of them Chevys, and any that looked interesting were marked sold.

There were some Art Deco trucks too.

This is the satillite picture of Hopkins. The trees are visible from the freeway.

The place is operated by a nice guy named Bob. I had been told the place was going to be crushed soon, but Bob did not say anything of that sort, and in fact told me I can call and check on parts any time.

Hopkins Antique Auto
24833 Old Highway 30
Caldwell, ID 83607

(208) 459-2877

Lots of old stuff in this yard and if you are anywhere near Caldwell its worth jumping off the freeway and taking a look.

I graduated from Caldwell High School long ago. One of my classmates is now mayor and another is his most outspoken opponent in the city council. I last lived there 25 years ago. I last visited just 10 days ago.

I found far more old Stovebolts in a wrecking yard in Canon City, Colorado.

Canyon Truck
12868 Co.Rd. 3
Canon City, CO 81212
Phone: (719) 275-5236

I took dozens of pictures in this yard, and almost bought one truck. It was a '54 GMC that had a pretty good cab and a few little pieces I want. I passed because I hoped to find better for less. It did not turn out that way.

This is the one I almost bought.

If you poke around in that directory on my web server you will see some of the other trucks in that yard.

It was raining when I was in Caldwell, which is my excuse for not getting shots of Hopkins...

Another great wrecking yard with lots of Stovebolts in Webb & Company in Ellicott, Colorado. I found the owner a little odd. He didn't want to sell any of the trucks I wanted.

Most of the trucks i seen yesterday on my trip were older then 1960, even in those two yards i linked to above. We were getting short on time so we did not stop at these places, I can see I need to make a trip back up when I can this summer, to check them out some more.
