I found if I hit the speed bumps down the back lane at just the right speed in 1st in the right way, they'd start. Today they decided not to start at all...and it rained...alot.
Before I get in there and start fiddling around with my manual, any suggestions what to start with? 58 Chevy Apache. | | | | Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 990 Member | Member Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 990 | Electric or Vaccuum? Original or Aftermarket? | | | | Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 183 Wrench Fetcher | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 183 | It is electric and I believe it is original. The previous owner said it is original, but he also said that about the dual exhaust. | | | | Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 50 Wrench Fetcher | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 50 | Make sure you have a good ground for the electric motor. If there is paint or corosion between the motor housing and metal dash, then the wipers might not work until something shifts (going over a bump) and then the ground might reconnect. So make sure the ground is clean to start with.

The yellow wire had broken off so I'm gonna strip the end and re-attach as per Manual. Thanks again! | | | | Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 183 Wrench Fetcher | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 183 | ps. I'm looking at the yellow line attachment. Should it fit in a sleeve or does it go through the small hole on the connection? | | | | Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 2,952 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 2,952 | Speaking of wipers, I used my vacuum type yesterday and my heater core started to leak. The core was tested and soldered in November and I had not used my wipers until yesterday. Strange coincidence and from my thinking process the two are not related mechanically. | | | | Joined: Dec 2005 Posts: 324 Member | Member Joined: Dec 2005 Posts: 324 | if the conection looks like a spade or tab, there are special ends that plug on. find them at hardware or auto stores. they crimp on the end of the wire. but any conection that works when it's raining can't be ignored

I'z got wipers again. Thanks. | | | | Joined: Oct 2005 Posts: 688 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Oct 2005 Posts: 688 | Originally posted by olblu49: Speaking of wipers, I used my vacuum type yesterday and my heater core started to leak.
