Will a big bolt cab accept 1/2 ton front fenders, or is the cowel larger?

It'll work on the 39 thru 53 trucks for sure.. not sure about other years.. unless you're talking about putting 1/2 ton fenders on a Big Bolt truck frame.. then I think it only works up to a 1 ton.

In the '39 thru '46 trucks, I think the only difference between 1/2 ton and 1.5 ton fenders is the wheel opening and maybe the width.. the hoods are interchangable.

In the later trucks, I understand the hood is longer, which would suggest the fenders were longer?

an idea is only stupid if you think about it rationally.

I bought a complete front end to use on my 51 half ton and the fenders are too wide and the hood is slightly different. One hood is rounded at the corners and the other is straighter. Don't remember which is which. The cabs are the same though.

Heres to us and those like us, theres darn few left.

The way I understand it the 'Advance Design' trucks, 74 thru 50 whenever used all the same cabs on all the trucks 1/2 ton thru 2 ton.. and that the 1/2 ton trucks thru 1 ton trucks used the same fenders, hood, and grill. The 1.5 and 2 ton trucks had bigger fenders and a bigger hood.

The 50's GMC 1 ton near me has what appears to be 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton sized front fenders.

So provided we're talking about an AD truck, if your fenders are too wide to fit on your 1/2 ton, that's probably beacuse they're off a 1.5 ton or larger truck.

The hood that is pointed at the rear corners is for a medium-duty truck, and is longer than the light-duty counterpart.
