Check this out and see what a really fine 50 1/2 t can sell for. See what a lot of TLC can accomplish.

I saw pics of the 41...are the running boards powdercoated? If so, it would be durable enough to drive without scratching the daylights out of it everytime you stepped on the R/Bs.

That was a pretty good price for a 41..

I be willing to bet, We b Old, that for a few of them, the auction itself, the bidding "posturing" and the 15 minutes of fame is the greatest pleasure they will get from their purchase.

grin that was the fantasy part Mallard - the seller was fantasizing he was gonna make a profit off his "investment" grin

I wouldn't be suprised if the majority of those big buck trucks cost more to have built than they sell for - cheapest way to get a fancy finished truck is buy one already done, just watch for ads that start "SACRIFICE ...." or that include the phrase "divorce forces sale" grin

it is amazing what some chrome and a $5,000 paint job will do to an old farm truck. my favorite last night was the 10,000 mile origional 66 chevelle, what a beauty.

The announcer last night said, due to stock market dive, that some of the big money was just buying for investments, like they had no interest in the vehicle, only what kind of profit there was to be made. Must be nice to have that kind of money------

Looks like no one really gets to have FUN with these cars/trucks cept Mr. Jackson who makes Money on every one he sells.

had a little sit down with craig jackson a few years back. the nicest thing i can say about him is that he is a driven man. i was just curious to see what would be the best approach to restoring my 50, but he was far more interested in the bigger picture.

like i said, this was a few years ago and he was still pretty young (not that i was all that old either). he just came across as being far more interrested in what was to be gained "financially" than what was to be gained historically.

i know that i'm small time in comparison to the b&j auction, and i'm sure he had better things to do than b.s. with me about restoring my truck. i was just a little dissapointed that he wasn't more interested in a good historical truck than the commission he could make off of it.

it's no hemi, and it's no trailer queen, but it's mine...

You are all right. They are trailer queens. Most of them are bought as an investment.Next year they will be worth more money. Not the type of vehicle I want.I want something I can drive and enjoy. If you buy one of them cars right, you can double your money in a year. The stock market has been doing quite well for the last couple years, but it is pretty hard to double your money there in a year.Collector cars, the stock market,it is all a gamble. If I had that much money,I would be right out there bidding on those cars.
