My questions are 1)Will this frame fit a '54 150 and 2)Is this a swap that you'd recommend. I never had any delusions about a showroom restoration but I did plan on having an original truck. A '54 150 is a 1/2-ton GMC with a long box, right?
I don't recall the wheelbase lengths on all S10's, but I think you'll need an extended cab long box to be even close. That means you'll need to modify the length of the frame, or cut down the bed.
There is a kit available to put a 1/2-ton short box on an extended cab frame. It would solve some of the problems but leave you with a few.
S10 is probably the best choice for a frame swap based on what I've read and seen, but I can't say I'd recommend doing it.

swap-a-roo. Something 5lug, front disc brakes,& in my case v8 ready. I was told that they pretty much sit right back on the mounts & everything lines up perfectly. I puat a '73 K1500 frame under a '57 pickup and now undergoing a front suspension swap on a '46 panel. I would highly recommend saving as much of your original frame as possible. Body mounts and finding places to put such things as radiator supports are a real pain once you get rid of them. I don't really know the width of the '54 front horns but we bolted on an '87 front suspension to the '46 prior to our recent project. If the late model front suspension is the same width, it should work great.
