I've told you before, but everytime I see your truck I'm reminded.
Great job on the modifications you made, it's beautiful.

So, did it turn out as good work truck?
What engine/driveline did you wind up using?

I ended up using a 76 army issue chevy 1 1/4 ton 4x4 frame. I also went with a brand new 350 crate engine from GM it has 330 horse and 380 ft pounds of torque. When you step on the gas she really gets up and goes. Oh and same with the fuel | | | | Joined: Oct 2002 Posts: 4,066 Bolter | Bolter Joined: Oct 2002 Posts: 4,066 | very nice,,,,,,,,,,,,regards..Fred Redryder pixMy HotrodA veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard, or reserve - is someone who, at one point in his or her life, wrote a blank check made payable to The 'United States of America', for an amount of "up to and including my life."I am fighting cancer and I am winning the fight | Pain is part of life; misery is an option. | | | | Joined: Oct 2004 Posts: 235 Wrench Fetcher | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Oct 2004 Posts: 235 | Sweet mate. When I pull up to a job site people tell me I am crazy to use my truck for work. I was going to buy a new truck but all of that computer bs is going to cost a lot of money to fix later down the road, plus I can work on my own vehicle Stuart | | | | Joined: Jan 2005 Posts: 394 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 2005 Posts: 394 | job very very well done. would be proud to be the owner, drive with pride. mike j | | | | Joined: Nov 2004 Posts: 2,317 Former Workshop Owner | Former Workshop Owner Joined: Nov 2004 Posts: 2,317 | Excellent job, very well done, and the best part is, that you are not afraid to use it. I hope to have my '42 half as nice someday. Enjoy that truck. | | | | Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 990 Member | Member Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 990 | Very nice. Man those old trucks had some real style. You get to drive a beautiful old stovebolt to work every day, and every penny you save is TAX DEDUCTIBLE! For a self-employed guy, 15.3% FICA and MCARE plus 25% tax bracket means that every $100 dollars you spend on the truck saves you $40 in tax! Who wouldn't want this truck and get it for 60 cents on the dollar? | | | | Joined: Jun 2003 Posts: 331 Member | Member Joined: Jun 2003 Posts: 331 | Canyon You are absolutely right. All parts are a 100% right off. With fuel being a right off too. It makes it a lot easier to put 94 octane fuel in when you look at it that way. After all the work you put into that truck, it would be a shame to have it get eaten alive by rust! | | | | Joined: Jun 2003 Posts: 331 Member | Member Joined: Jun 2003 Posts: 331 | Rich I thought of that when I built the truck and had the bottom of the cab, inner fenders, fender skirts, under the hood and running boards all sprayed with linex truck bed liner, so I'm good to go. Plus I take the hose and spray the underneth every couple of days | | | | Joined: Sep 2004 Posts: 46 Wrench Fetcher | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Sep 2004 Posts: 46 | VERY NICE!! When my wife encouraged me to buy the '59 fleetside, we figured on using it for work for the same reasons stated before, but I'm working too much to get the time to make it reliable enough as my jobs are sometimes 120 miles away, but when I get it done our business name will be on the door (magnetic sign, of course)-can you say advertising expense!!
